How to Draw a Thumbs Up

9 steps · Medium · about 7 min

Draw a thumbs up in 9 easy steps, about 7 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the thumb.

Print

  1. Step 1: The thumb

Start low, left of the middle. Draw a fat thumb with a round tip, stopping level with the start.

Tip Keep it short and fat, not a long finger. Leave the bottom open.

  2. Step 2: First curled finger

Start at the bottom right of the thumb. Draw a fat sideways U to the right, stopping a little lower.

  3. Step 3: Three more fingers

Start where the first finger ends. Draw 3 more sideways U fingers underneath, and stop with the smallest.

  4. Step 4: Side of the hand

Start at the bottom left of the thumb. Curve down and in to the wrist. Stop below the smallest finger.

  5. Step 5: Wrist and cuff

Start under the smallest finger and draw the wrist line down to a cuff, a little wider than the wrist.

  6. Step 6: Nail and crease

Draw a small round nail near the thumb tip. Add 1 short curve lower down for a knuckle crease.

  7. Step 7: Sparkle lines

Beside the thumb on the left draw 3 short straight lines pointing out, like a sparkle.

  8. Step 8: Pink nail, peach hand

Colour the nail pink. Then colour the thumb, fingers, hand and wrist peach, around the nail.

  9. Step 9: Green cuff

Colour the cuff green. Go over your lines and your thumbs up is done.
