How to Draw a Referee

Step 1: The head

Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

Step 2: The face

Draw 2 oval eyes, a tiny nose and a smile. Start a C ear each side, stopping on the head.

Step 3: Short hair

Start on the left of the head, by the eyebrows. Draw soft tufts over the head, down to the right.

Step 4: Neck and shirt

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one, draw a shirt round to the right, with both sleeves pointing up.

Step 5: Collar and stripes

Draw a V collar at the neck. Add 3 tall stripes down the shirt, from the shoulders to the hem.

Step 6: Arms up

From each sleeve, draw 2 lines up and out to the wrist. Make the arm thinner at the top.

Tip Both arms match, like a big V.

Step 7: Mitten hands

Start on one side of each wrist. Draw a round mitten with a thumb. Stop on the other side.

Step 8: Card and whistle

In the right mitten, draw a tall card. In the left, draw a whistle: a circle with a short tube.

Tip Card and whistle: that is how everyone knows the referee.

Step 9: Shorts

Start at the shirt's bottom left. Draw shorts with a point between the legs, stopping at the bottom right.

Step 10: Legs and socks

Start on the shorts. Draw 2 lines down for each leg, stopping above the bottom. Add 2 sock lines.

Step 11: Shoes and ground

Under each leg, draw a shoe, toe pointing out: round heel, flat sole, round toe. Add a long ground line.

Step 12: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour 2 pink cheeks. Colour the face, ears, neck, arms, hands and knees peach around them. Leave the eyes white.

Step 13: Yellow card, brown hair

Colour the card and the whistle yellow. Colour the hair brown.

Step 14: Black stripes and shorts

Colour the collar, 3 stripes, shorts and socks black. Leave the rest of the shirt and the shoes white.
