How to Draw a Gnome in the Garden
Draw a gnome in the garden in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room above for the tall hat and lots below for the body.
Step 2: Face and big nose
Below the middle of the head, draw 2 oval eyes and a big round nose, with a smile under it.
Step 3: Tall pointed hat
Above the eyes, draw a tall hat up to a point high above the head. Curve a brim across.
Step 4: Long beard
From the left cheek, draw a big U beard down to the chest and back up to the right cheek.
Step 5: Tunic and belt
Under the beard, draw a tunic with short sleeves down to the hips. Add a belt with a square buckle.
Step 6: Arms and hands
From each sleeve, draw an arm that gets thinner down to the wrist. Add a mitten hand with a thumb.
Step 7: Watering can
Under the right hand, draw a round can and long spout. Arch the handle from the can into the fist.
Step 8: Trousers
Start at the tunic's bottom left corner. Draw 2 trouser legs down, and stop at the right corner.
Step 9: Boots and ground
Under each leg, draw a tall boot with the toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under the boots.
Step 10: Tulip and drops
Under the spout, draw a stem from the ground up to a tulip cup. Add 2 falling drops.
Step 11: Mushroom
On the left, draw a mushroom cap, then a stalk from the cap down to the ground. Add 3 spots.
Step 12: Peach skin, pink nose
Colour the face, arms and hands peach, and the nose and cheeks pink. Leave the eyes and beard white.
Step 13: Red hat, blue tunic
Colour the hat, mushroom cap and tulip red, the tunic blue around the belt. Leave the spots and stalk white.
Step 14: Green can, brown boots
Colour the watering can and tulip stem green, and the belt, trousers and boots brown. Go over your lines.
