How to Draw a Thermostat

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a thermostat in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the box.

Print

  1. Step 1: The box

In the middle of your paper draw a big box with round corners, a little wider than tall.

  2. Step 2: The side edge

Start at the top right corner. Draw a thin edge down the side and along the bottom. Stop bottom left.

Tip The thin edge shows how far the box sticks out from the wall.

  3. Step 3: The screen

In the top left of the box draw a wide screen with round corners.

Tip Leave room on the right for 2 buttons and underneath for a slider.

  4. Step 4: A square 7

On the screen write a big 7 with straight lines: start left, go across, then straight down.

  5. Step 5: A square 2

Next to it write a 2 with straight lines: across, down, back across, down and across again.

Tip Screen numbers are made of straight lines, with square corners.

  6. Step 6: The degree ring

After the 2, up high, draw a tiny ring. Now the screen says 72 degrees.

  7. Step 7: The up button

Right of the screen, near its top, draw a triangle pointing up. This button makes the room warmer.

  8. Step 8: The down button

Under it draw a triangle pointing down. This button makes the room cooler.

  9. Step 9: The slider

Under the screen draw a long thin slot with round ends. Draw a round knob on it, near the left.

  10. Step 10: Cream box

Go over your lines. Colour the box cream, round the screen, the 2 buttons and the slider.

  11. Step 11: Blue screen

Colour the whole screen light blue, behind the numbers.

  12. Step 12: Grey edge and slot

Colour the thin side edge and the slot grey. Leave the round knob white.

  13. Step 13: Red and blue buttons

Colour the up button red and the down button blue. Your thermostat is done!
