How to Draw a Recliner
Draw a recliner in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the arm.
Step 1: The arm
In the middle of your paper draw a long sausage lying flat. This is the padded arm.
Tip Leave lots of room on the left for the back and on the right for the footrest.
Step 2: The side
Start under the arm's left end. Draw down, across and back up. Stop under the arm's right end.
Step 3: The leaning back
Start on top of the arm. Draw a long fat cushion leaning back to the left. Stop on the side.
Tip A recliner's back tips right back so you can lie down.
Step 4: Head pillow
On the front of the back, near the top, draw a small puffy pillow leaning the same way.
Step 5: The footrest
Out to the right, a little below the arm, draw a long flat pad that tips up slightly.
Step 6: The bar
Start low on the right side of the chair. Draw 2 close lines slanting up. Stop under the footrest.
Step 7: The base
Under the side draw a thin flat band, a little wider than the side.
Step 8: Two feet
Under the base draw 2 short square feet, one near each end.
Step 9: The handle
On the side of the chair, near the front, draw a small slanted handle like a sausage.
Step 10: The floor
Draw a floor line under the feet. Start past the back and stop past the footrest.
Step 11: Cream cushions
Go over your lines, then colour the head pillow and the footrest cream.
Step 12: Wood and grey
Colour the feet and the handle wood brown and the bar grey.
Step 13: Red recliner
Colour the back, the arm, the side and the base red, around the handle. Your recliner is done!
