How to Draw a Texas Longhorn Calf
Draw a Texas longhorn calf in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall. Leave room on the right.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big oval eyes. Under them, draw a big egg snout with 2 nostrils and a wide smile.
Tip Eyes go across the middle of the head, big, with a shine.
Step 3: Horns and ears
On each top corner, draw a long horn reaching straight out, tipping up at the end. Add an ear below.
Tip The horns are longer than the ears: a small pair of longhorns.
Step 4: The neck
From behind the head, draw the back of the neck sloping down to the right, a short line.
Tip The body will hide the end of this line.
Step 5: The body
From the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy and a chest.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw a ground line. Add a leg under the chest and one under the bottom, each with a hoof.
Tip A hoof is like a little doorstop, flat on the ground.
Step 7: The far legs
Add the 2 far legs peeking out, a bit thinner: one behind the front leg, one before the back leg.
Step 8: The tail
From the top corner of the bottom, draw a thin tail hanging down, with a leaf tuft at the end.
Step 9: Spots
Dot little round spots over the back and sides, some big, some small.
Step 10: Colour it cream
Colour the calf cream around the spots, tuft and hooves. Make the snout and ear insides pink.
Tip Leave the eyes and the spots white for now.
Step 11: Sand and ginger
Colour the horns and the tail tuft sand, and the spots ginger.
Step 12: Slate hooves
Colour the hooves slate grey. Your longhorn calf is done.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a Texas longhorn calf, drawn by you.
