How to Draw a Baby Giraffe
Draw a baby giraffe in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little taller than wide. Leave room below it.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big oval eyes across the head's middle. Under them, add an egg nose with dots and a smile.
Tip The egg nose hangs a little below the chin.
Step 3: Horns and ears
On top of the head, draw 2 lollipop horns. On each top corner, draw a leaf ear pointing up.
Step 4: Long neck
From under the head, draw 2 long neck lines. Stop below the middle of the page. Add 4 mane bumps.
Step 5: Bean body
From the bottom of the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw a low ground line. Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom.
Tip Let each leg get thinner down to a doorstop hoof with a line across its top.
Step 7: Far legs
Add 2 far legs, each a thin strip peeking out between the near legs. All 4 hooves touch the ground.
Step 8: Tufty tail
From the top corner of the bottom, draw a thin tail hanging down. Add a leaf tuft at the end.
Step 9: Patches
Draw 7 big wobbly patches: 2 on the neck and 5 on the body. Keep them inside the lines.
Step 10: Colour it yellow
Go over your lines. Colour the giraffe yellow, around the patches and ear insides. Colour the nose sandy.
Tip Leave the eyes white, and save the mane, horn knobs, tuft and hooves for brown.
Step 11: Peach and ginger
Colour the ear insides peach and the patches ginger.
Step 12: Brown hair and hooves
Colour the mane, horn knobs, tail tuft and hooves brown.
