How to Draw a Mosquito
Draw a mosquito in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
On the left of your paper, above the middle, draw a big round head. Leave room on the right.
Tip The head is big: about a third of the whole mosquito.
Step 2: Huge eye and smile
Inside the head draw one huge round eye with a dot and shine. Add a little smile and cheek.
Step 3: Needle and feelers
Start at the smile's left end. Draw a long thin needle down to a point. Add 2 curved feelers.
Tip The needle is the mosquito's straw: long, thin and straight.
Step 4: Humped chest
Start on the back of the head near the top. Draw a round hill chest and stop lower down.
Step 5: Long thin body
Start on the back of the chest. Draw a long thin body out to a soft point and back.
Step 6: Body stripes
Draw 4 curved ring lines across the long body, each from the top edge to the bottom edge.
Step 7: Two wings
From the top of the chest draw a leaf wing with a middle line. Add a second leaf peeking below.
Step 8: Three long legs
Start under the chest. Draw 3 thin legs, each out to a bent knee, then down to a flat foot.
Tip Each leg gets thinner from the top down to the foot, with a bend at the knee.
Step 9: The ground
Draw one long straight ground line under all the feet.
Step 10: Tan body, pink cheek
Colour the head, chest and long body tan, and the cheek pink. Leave the huge eye white.
Step 11: Sky wings, grey needle
Colour the 2 wings pale sky blue. Colour the needle light grey.
Step 12: Dark grey legs
Colour the 3 legs dark grey. Your mosquito is done!
