How to Draw a Terrarium
Draw a terrarium in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the glass jar.
Step 1: The glass jar
In the middle draw a tall box with soft round corners for the glass jar.
Tip A terrarium is a big jar, taller than it is wide.
Step 2: Neck and cork lid
On top of the jar draw a short neck, and on the neck a fat cork lid, a little wider.
Step 3: Soil line
Near the bottom of the jar draw a bumpy soil line, starting on the left and stopping on the right.
Step 4: Three tall leaves
From one spot in the middle of the soil draw 3 tall pointy leaves: one left, one up, one right.
Tip Let the middle one reach nearly to the neck.
Step 5: Leaf ribs
Down the middle of each leaf draw one line from the soil up to the tip.
Step 6: A little mushroom
On the right draw a stalk from the soil and back down to it. Add a dome cap on top.
Step 7: Pebbles and moss
Draw 3 pebbles in the soil. On the left, draw 3 round moss bumps, starting and stopping on the soil.
Step 8: Shine and ground
Down the left side of the glass draw 2 short curved shine lines. Draw the ground line under the jar.
Step 9: Grey pebbles, brown soil
Colour the pebbles grey, then the soil around them and the cork lid brown.
Step 10: Green leaves, red mushroom
Colour the leaves and moss green and the cap red, leaving 3 white spots. Go over your lines.
