How to Draw a Termite
Draw a termite in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, draw a big egg for the head: flat on top, round cheeks, then a smaller round chin.
Tip A termite is 3 beads in a row: a big head, a wide middle and a long soft bottom.
Step 2: Straight feelers
Start on top of the head. Draw a straight feeler up and out, ending in a ball. Do both sides.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head, draw 2 big egg eyes with a black dot and white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Draw an open smile under the eyes: a flat line with a wide U below. Add a cheek each side.
Step 5: The middle bead
Start on the left of the chin. Draw a wide oval bead under the head and stop on the right.
Tip The middle bead is wide and flat. Its top hides behind the head.
Step 6: The big bottom bead
Start low on the middle bead's left. Draw a long egg hanging under it and stop on the right.
Tip No thin waist: the bottom bead tucks right up under the middle bead.
Step 7: Three ring lines
Start on the left of the bottom bead. Draw a smile line across to the right. Add 2 more below.
Step 8: Front legs
Start high on the middle bead. Draw a leg out to a knee, down to a ball foot. Both sides.
Tip Each leg gets thinner on the way to its ball foot, with a round knee.
Step 9: Middle legs
From the side of the middle bead, draw a leg out to a knee and a ball foot. Both sides.
Step 10: Back legs
Low on the middle bead, draw a leg down to a knee and a ball foot. Both sides.
Tip The 3 feet on each side fan out wider than the knees.
Step 11: Cream body, pink cheeks
Colour both body beads pale cream and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 12: Tan head and legs
Colour the head, legs, feet and feeler balls tan, around the eyes, mouth and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Red mouth
Colour the open mouth red, and your termite is done!
