How to Draw a Tentacle
Draw a tentacle in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the arm.
Step 1: The arm
Start low down. Draw 2 lines a hand apart going up, getting closer together. Stop a little above the middle.
Tip Thick at the water, thinner higher up, like a carrot.
Step 2: The curl
From the left line top, curl over like a question mark to a thin tip, back to the right line.
Tip Let the arm get thinner and thinner, all the way to the tip.
Step 3: Suckers
Along the inside edge of the arm, draw a row of circles following the curl, smaller toward the tip.
Tip Keep every circle inside the arm, not touching the lines.
Step 4: The water line
Start near the left edge. Draw a wavy sea line across the arm's bottom, stopping near the right edge.
Step 5: Splashes
Just beside the arm, start on the water line and curl a little splash up and out on each side.
Step 6: Drops
Above each splash, draw a little drop flying out, with its point at the top.
Step 7: The sea
From the left end of the wavy line, draw down, along the bottom and up to the right end.
Step 8: The sun
In the top left corner, draw a small sun with 8 short rays around it.
Step 9: Pink suckers, yellow sun
Go over your lines, then colour the suckers pink and the sun yellow.
Step 10: Purple arm, blue sea
Colour the arm purple around the suckers, and colour the sea blue.
