How to Draw a Saiga
Draw a saiga in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left, draw a long head, narrow at the chin. Leave room on the right for the body.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big eyes with shines, a bit above halfway. Below, add a droopy nose, 2 nostrils and a smile.
Tip Make the nose fat at the bottom so it droops over the smile. That is what makes a saiga!
Step 3: Horns and ears
On top of the head, draw 2 long slim horns curving back. Add a leaf ear on each top corner.
Step 4: The neck
From the right side of the head, draw the back of the neck sloping down. Stop level with the nose.
Step 5: The body
Start at the bottom of the neck. Draw a big soft bean: a long back, round bottom and tummy.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw a ground line. Draw a front leg with a knee, down to a hoof, then a bent back leg.
Tip A hoof is a little doorstop, flat on the ground.
Step 7: The far legs
Draw a thin far leg peeking out behind the front leg, and one in front of the back leg.
Step 8: The tail
Start at the top back corner of the body. Draw a short tail curving down to a soft round tuft.
Step 9: Colour it sand
Go over your lines. Colour the nose cream, then the head, ears, neck, body, legs and tail sand around it.
Tip Leave the eyes white, and keep the ear insides, horns and hooves for later.
Step 10: Peach ears, tan horns
Colour the ear insides peach and the horns tan.
Step 11: Grey hooves
Colour all 4 hooves grey. Your saiga is done!
