How to Draw Tempura
Draw tempura in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.
Step 1: A plate
In the middle draw a big flat oval plate, most of the page wide.
Step 2: The rim
Draw a second oval a finger inside the plate, all the way round, for the rim.
Step 3: The first prawn
Across the back draw a long curved prawn with small crinkly bumps, fat on the right, thin on the left.
Tip Keep the bumps small and the prawn long, like a banana.
Step 4: Its tail
At the thin left end draw a little fan tail with 3 round bumps, growing out of the batter.
Step 5: A second prawn
Below it draw a second long crinkly prawn the other way round: fat on the left, thin on the right.
Step 6: Another tail
At its thin right end draw the same little fan tail with 3 round bumps.
Step 7: A dipping bowl
At the back right draw a small oval. From its left end dip a U down to its right end.
Step 8: A leaf
Draw a pointed leaf peeking out from behind the front prawn, with a line from the prawn to its tip.
Step 9: Golden batter
Go over your lines, then colour both prawns golden orange.
Step 10: Red tails
Colour the fan tails red.
Step 11: Brown sauce, green leaf
Colour the sauce in the bowl brown and the leaf green.
Step 12: Blue plate, white bowl
Colour the plate sky blue around the prawns, the leaf and the bowl. Leave the little bowl white.
