How to Draw Tears
Draw tears in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big soft egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip A cartoon head is big: about 2 thirds of the page tall.
Step 2: Two ears
On each side start on the head, draw a C ear, end on the head. Add a smaller C inside.
Step 3: Big eyes
Below the middle of the head draw 2 big tall eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 4: Nose and sad mouth
Between the eyes draw a tiny U nose. Under it draw a short upside-down curve for a sad mouth.
Step 5: Eyebrows
Above each eye draw a short soft arc for an eyebrow.
Step 6: Teardrops
Under each eye draw a teardrop down the cheek, pointy on top, round below. Add a tiny one beside it.
Step 7: Fluffy hair
Start on the head above the left ear. Draw soft round tufts over the top, ending above the right ear.
Tip Soft bumps like little clouds, not spikes.
Step 8: Fringe
From the same left point draw a fringe across the forehead with one soft dip, ending at the right point.
Tip Rub out the head line under the hair.
Step 9: Neck and shirt
Under the chin draw 2 neck lines. From each draw a shoulder sloping out and down. Add a collar.
Step 10: Peach skin
Colour the face, ears and neck peach, going around the eyes and tears. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Blue tears, brown hair
Colour the teardrops blue and the hair brown.
Step 12: Purple shirt
Colour the shirt purple. Go over your lines and your crying face is done.
