How to Draw a Taxi

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a taxi in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: nose, roof and boot.

Print

  1. Step 1: Nose, roof and boot

Start low on the left. Draw one bumpy hill: nose, bonnet, dome, boot. Stop low on the right.

Tip One smooth stroke: bonnet low, dome high, boot small.

  2. Step 2: Belly and arches

Start where you stopped. Draw a rainbow arch, a flat belly, another arch, and stop at the nose.

  3. Step 3: Big headlight eye

Near the nose, draw a big round headlight eye. Add a big dot and 2 little shines.

  4. Step 4: Two tyres

Tuck a big round tyre into each arch, starting and stopping on the arch. Add a hub with a dot.

  5. Step 5: Windows and shine

Start above the bonnet. Draw a rainbow inside the dome, back to the start. Add 2 pillars and a shine.

  6. Step 6: Smile and cheek

Start under the eye. Draw a bold U smile, stopping just before the nose. Add a round cheek.

  7. Step 7: Door and handle

From the back pillar, draw a line straight down to the back arch. Add a small pill handle halfway down.

  8. Step 8: Roof sign

On the dome, draw a flat rounded TAXI sign. Add a lamp bump from the sign top back to it.

Tip The sign sits on the roof like a hat.

  9. Step 9: Checker band

Below the windows, draw 2 straight lines that stop at the door. Add short lines to make 8 boxes.

  10. Step 10: Bumper and back light

Start low on the nose. Draw a flat bumper back to the nose. Add an oval light at the back.

  11. Step 11: The road

Start in front of the nose. Draw one straight road line under both tyres, stopping behind the car.

  12. Step 12: Yellow body

Colour the body, lamp and back light yellow, around the windows, headlight, sign and every other box from the front.

  13. Step 13: Sky windows, pink cheek

Colour the windows sky blue, leaving a white shine, and the cheek pink. Leave the headlight and sign white.

  14. Step 14: Grey bits, black tyres

Colour the bumper, handle and hubs grey. Colour the tyres and the empty boxes black.
