How to Draw a Scissor Lift
Draw a scissor lift in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the base.
Step 1: The base
A little below the middle of your paper draw a long low box, about 3 times as wide as tall.
Tip The base is the heavy bottom. Everything stacks on it.
Step 2: The round face
In the middle of the base draw a big circle. Leave a gap above and below it.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
In the circle draw 2 round eyes, a little apart, each with a shine. Add a U smile below.
Step 4: Chassis and wheels
Start at the base's bottom left. Draw a thin strip under it, ending bottom right. Add 2 wheels.
Step 5: Lower scissor
Draw a big X on the base, starting a little in from each corner, stopping up high. Add a pin.
Tip The X is the scissor. It folds flat when the lift comes down.
Step 6: Upper scissor
Start at the tips of the first X. Draw a second X ending level on top. Add a pin dot.
Step 7: The platform
Across the top X tips draw a long flat box, a little wider than the base.
Step 8: The railing
Start near each end of the platform and draw a short post up. Join them with 2 lines across.
Step 9: The ground
Draw one long ground line from edge to edge under the wheels.
Step 10: White face, rosy cheeks
Add 2 rosy pink cheeks below the eyes. Leave the face and eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow base and platform
Colour the base yellow, going around the face. Colour the platform yellow too.
Step 12: Grey chassis and wheels
Colour the pins grey. Colour the chassis and wheels dark grey, leaving the hubs white.
