How to Draw a Monorail
Draw a monorail in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: rounded car.
Step 1: Rounded car
Above the middle of your paper draw one long car with both ends rounded like a loaf.
Tip Leave room under it for the beam and legs.
Step 2: Round face
On the front end of the car, inside the nose, draw a big circle nearly as tall as the car.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
In the circle draw 2 big eyes. Start under the left eye, draw a U smile, stop under the right.
Step 4: Four windows
Along the car, behind the face, draw 4 square windows in a row with round corners, all the same size.
Step 5: Door
In front of the windows draw a tall door with round corners. Add a small window at its top.
Step 6: Skirt line
From the back end, rule a line across the bottom of the door. Stop at the nose.
Step 7: Headlamp
Low in the nose, under the face, draw a small round headlamp.
Step 8: The beam
Rule one fat beam from edge to edge. Its top hides behind the skirt, its bottom shows under the car.
Tip One fat rail is what makes it a monorail.
Step 9: Two legs
Under the beam draw 2 chunky legs. Start on the beam, go down, across and back up.
Step 10: Ground
Rule a long ground line from edge to edge under the legs.
Step 11: Sky windows, yellow lamp
Colour the 4 windows and the door window sky blue, and the headlamp yellow. Leave the car and eyes white.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, grey beam
Give the face 2 pink cheeks under the eyes. Colour the beam and its 2 legs grey.
Step 13: Teal skirt
Go over your lines and colour the skirt teal. Your monorail is ready to ride!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a monorail, drawn by you.
