How to Draw a Tandem Bike
Draw a tandem bike in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wheels and road.
Step 1: Wheels and road
Near the bottom draw 2 big wheels far apart, each with a rim and hub. Add a road line underneath.
Tip A tandem is built for 2: the wheels sit far apart.
Step 2: Fork and head tube
Start on the front hub. Draw a fat stick up and back, stopping above the tyre. Add a pill there.
Step 3: Chain wheels and tube
Low between the wheels draw 2 circles. Join them with a fat stick, and join the first to the pill.
Step 4: Seat sticks, top bar
From each chain wheel draw a stick up. From the pill rule a long bar back to the second stick.
Step 5: Brace and back stays
From the first seat stick draw a brace down to the second chain wheel, then 2 sticks to the hub.
Step 6: Two saddles
Start on top of each seat stick. Draw a short post up to a chunky saddle with a pointy nose.
Step 7: Two handlebars
From the pill, draw a bar up and forward to a grip. Draw one more back from the first post.
Step 8: Two pedals
From the middle of each chain wheel draw a short stick down and forward, ending in a small flat pedal.
Step 9: Spokes
In each wheel draw 3 straight lines through the hub from rim to rim, like cutting a pizza into 6.
Step 10: Grey metal, blue frame
Colour the hubs, chain wheels, cranks, pedals, posts and handlebars grey. Then colour every frame stick blue around them.
Step 11: Brown saddles, black tyres
Go over your lines. Colour both saddles brown, then the tyres black around the sticks, leaving the rims white.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a tandem bike, drawn by you.
