How to Draw a Fire Truck
Draw a fire truck in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: cab and long body.
Step 1: Cab and long body
Start low on the left. Draw a tall cab box, then a long low body box. Stop at the back.
Tip One line, 2 boxes: a tall one in front, a long low one behind.
Step 2: Floor and wheel bumps
Start at the back wall's bottom. Draw the floor with 2 big rainbow bumps and stop at the front wall.
Tip The rainbows are wheel arches: the tyres hang inside them.
Step 3: Eye and smile
Halfway down the front draw a big circle eye with a black dot. Add a short smile under it.
Tip Give the dot 2 white shines. Keep the smile small, away from the edges.
Step 4: Front bumper
At the bottom front corner draw a pill bumper that pokes out past the front.
Tip Rub out the corner line inside the bumper.
Step 5: Tyres and road
Under each rainbow bump draw a big circle tyre with a small hub. Draw a flat road under both tyres.
Tip Each tyre almost fills its bump, with a thin gap above.
Step 6: Windscreen and window
In the cab's top front corner draw a windscreen, a smaller copy of the corner. Add a window behind.
Tip Leave a little gap between the windscreen and the eye.
Step 7: Flashing light
Start on the roof. Draw a short block and stop on the roof. Add a half-ball light with 3 rays.
Tip The block goes over the windscreen. The light sits on it like a cherry.
Step 8: Ladder on a rack
Start behind the cab. Draw a long flat ladder that reaches past the tail. Add 7 rungs and 2 posts.
Tip The ladder floats a finger above the body on its 2 posts.
Step 9: Door
Just behind the cab draw a tall rounded door. Add a little window near its top.
Step 10: Hose reel
Near the back of the body draw a big circle reel. Add a small circle in the middle.
Tip The hose is rolled up on the reel.
Step 11: Sky glass, yellow lights
Go over your lines. Colour the windows sky blue. Colour the eye and dome light yellow, around the black dot.
Step 12: Red truck
Colour the cab and body red, around the windows, eye, bumper, door and reel.
Step 13: Grey metal, black tyres
Colour hubs, bumper, ladder, posts, light base, reel and door grey, around its window. Colour tyres and hub dots black.
