How to Draw a Tamale
Draw a tamale in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the husk.
Step 1: The husk
Draw a long husk, pointed at the right. Its open left end curves in, with a point at each corner.
Step 2: The tamale
On the husk draw a fat sausage with round ends, its left end level with the open end.
Tip Leave a band of husk showing above and below.
Step 3: Husk veins
In the husk draw a long line above the tamale and one below.
Step 4: Folds
Draw 2 long bowed lines across the tamale, top to bottom, leaning right.
Step 5: The string
Near the right end draw 2 string lines from top edge to bottom edge. Add a bow with 2 ends.
Step 6: Steam
Above the tamale draw 2 wavy lines going up, like wiggly worms, starting on the husk.
Step 7: A plate
Behind it all draw a big oval plate and a rim line inside it. Skip the hidden parts.
Step 8: Cream tamale
Go over your lines, then colour the tamale cream, going round the string.
Step 9: Tan husk, sky plate
Colour the husk tan around the tamale, and the plate sky blue around the husk.
Step 10: Brown string
Colour the string and its bow brown, and your tamale is ready to eat!
