How to Draw Tater Tots
Draw tater tots in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the boat.
Step 1: The boat
Low on your paper, draw a wide boat: a smile curve on top, 2 short slanting sides, a flat bottom.
Tip Keep the boat low and wide, so the tots can pile up high above it.
Step 2: The thin rim
Just under the top curve, draw a second smile curve from side to side for the paper rim.
Step 3: A happy face
On the boat front, draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots, a U smile and 2 tiny cheeks.
Step 4: Bottom tots
Along the top edge, draw 4 short fat logs side by side, poking up out of the boat.
Tip A tater tot is short: only a little longer than it is thick.
Step 5: Middle tots
On top of them, draw 3 more tots, each one sitting over a gap between 2 tots below.
Step 6: Top tots
Draw 2 more tots on top, over the gaps, so the pile makes a bumpy hill.
Step 7: Round ends
On one end of every tot, draw an oval for its flat round end.
Step 8: Ground and shadow
Around the boat's bottom, draw a flat oval shadow. From each end, draw a ground line out to the side.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow grey.
Step 11: Golden tots
Colour every tot a golden ginger colour.
Step 12: Red boat
Colour the boat red around the pink cheeks, leaving the eyes white. Your tater tots are ready!
