How to Draw a Tortilla

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a tortilla in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.

Print

  1. Step 1: A plate

Below the middle draw a big flat oval for the plate, leaving a little space at both sides.

  2. Step 2: The top tortilla

Over the top half of the plate draw a wide flat oval, narrower than the plate.

Tip A tortilla is round, so from the side it looks like a flat oval.

  3. Step 3: The stack

From the left end draw a short line down, a wide smile along the front, and a short line up.

Tip The smile bends just like the front of the oval.

  4. Step 4: Thin layers

Between the oval and the bottom smile draw 4 thin smiles from side to side, evenly spaced.

Tip Each thin layer is one more tortilla.

  5. Step 5: Toasted spots

On the top tortilla draw 6 soft blotches, some big and some small, spread about.

Tip Tortillas get brown spots where the hot pan touches them.

  6. Step 6: Steam

Above the stack draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up, the right one taller.

  7. Step 7: The table

Draw a table line under the plate, out past both sides, just touching its bottom.

  8. Step 8: Tan tortillas

Go over your lines, then colour the tortillas light tan, around the toasted spots.

  9. Step 9: Sky plate

Colour the plate sky blue around the stack.

  10. Step 10: Brown spots

Colour the toasted spots brown, and your tortillas are done!
