How to Draw Takoyaki
Draw takoyaki in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tray.
Step 1: The tray
A little below the middle, draw a long flat oval, wider than your hand, for the tray top.
Step 2: Its sides
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a low U down and round, up to the right end.
Tip Low and wide, like a little boat.
Step 3: Three balls
In the tray, draw 3 round balls in a row, as big as plums, the middle one a little higher.
Step 4: Sauce caps
On each ball, draw a soft wavy line from edge to edge, across the middle, for the sauce.
Step 5: Mayo
On each sauce cap, draw a thin wavy band from edge to edge for the mayo, like a ribbon.
Step 6: Flakes
Above the mayo on each ball, draw 1 tiny curl like a little comma for a fish flake.
Step 7: Seaweed and pick
Draw a tiny seaweed circle under each mayo band. Add a thin pick poking up from the right ball.
Step 8: A stripe and steam
Draw a bowed stripe round the tray under the rim, from left to right. Add 2 wiggly steam lines above.
Step 9: The table
Draw a long line under the tray, just touching its bottom.
Step 10: Tan balls, green dots
Colour the balls tan under the sauce, and the seaweed dots green.
Step 11: Brown sauce, wood pick
Colour the sauce brown around the green dots, leaving the mayo white. Colour the pick wood brown.
Step 12: Red stripe, white tray
Colour the band between the stripe and the rim red and leave the rest of the tray white.
