How to Draw French Onion Soup
Draw French onion soup in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
A little above the middle draw a wide flat oval for the top of the crock, about a hand wide.
Step 2: The crock
Start at the oval's left end. Draw a deep U with nearly straight sides, up to the oval's right end.
Tip French onion soup is baked in a little crock with cheese melted on top.
Step 3: 2 handles
Below the rim draw a small ear handle each side: start on the crock, bulge out, stop back on it.
Step 4: Cheese cap
Start on the rim near its left end. Draw a bumpy cap up and over, stopping near the right end.
Step 5: Cheese drips
From the rim draw 2 fat round-ended drips down the crock, a long one left and a short one right.
Step 6: Crouton and bubbles
On the cheese draw a tilted soft block for a crouton, then 3 bubbles, one big, one middle, one small.
Step 7: Steam
Above the crock draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up.
Step 8: The table
Draw a long table line under the crock, just touching its bottom.
Step 9: Yellow cheese
Go over your lines, then colour the cheese cap and the drips yellow.
Step 10: Tan crouton
Colour the crouton tan, like toasted bread.
Step 11: Brown crock
Colour the crock and its handles brown, around the yellow drips. Your soup is done!
