How to Draw a Taiko Drum
Draw a taiko drum in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big drum head.
Step 1: The big drum head
Left of the middle draw a big tall oval drum head.
Tip A taiko is a huge barrel drum played with two thick sticks.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the drum head draw 2 big egg eyes, with a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, with a small flat cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The barrel
Start at the oval's top. Bulge a fat barrel out to the right and back in to the bottom.
Step 5: Tacks
Round the edge of the head draw a ring of small circles for the tacks, evenly spaced.
Step 6: The stand
Under the drum draw a low wide stand: a flat box, a little wider at the bottom.
Step 7: Two sticks
Left of the stand draw 2 short thick sticks with round ends, crossed in an X, leaning on the stand.
Step 8: Boom lines
Draw a curved boom line in the air at each side of the drum.
Step 9: Ground
Draw a ground line under the stand and the sticks, from left to right.
Step 10: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Tan head, red barrel
Colour the head tan, going around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Colour the barrel red.
Step 12: Wood sticks and stand
Colour the stand and the 2 sticks wood brown. Boom, boom!
