How to Draw a T-Rex
Draw a T-rex in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big head.
Step 1: The big head
At the top left, draw a long head. Start at the back, round the flat snout, stop under the jaw.
Tip Leave the back of the head open, the neck grows out of it.
Step 2: Big eye
High near the back of the head, draw a big eye with a black dot and shine. Dot a nostril.
Step 3: Neck, back and tail
Start behind the head. Draw the neck, the back and a long pointy tail. Stop under the bottom.
Step 4: Big happy grin
From the front of the snout, draw a long smile to the cheek. Add a sagging curve under it.
Tip The open mouth is a lens: both curves meet at the cheek corner.
Step 5: Chest and tiny arm
Start under the jaw. Curve down the chest, stop at the tummy. Add a tiny arm with 2 claws.
Step 6: Big front leg
From the end of the chest, draw a big round thigh and a short leg with 3 toes.
Step 7: Tummy
Start behind the thigh. Draw one short, gentle curve under the tummy and stop at the tail line.
Step 8: Back leg and ground
Start behind the big thigh. Draw a thinner back leg and stop under the tail. Add a ground line.
Step 9: Big spots
Draw 5 round spots on the back and tail. Keep each spot inside the lines.
Step 10: Colour it leaf green
Go over your lines. Colour the mouth pink, the rest leaf green around the spots. Leave the eye white.
Step 11: Dark green spots
Colour the 5 spots dark green.
