How to Draw a Mermaid Castle

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a mermaid castle in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big hall.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big hall

Low in the middle of your page draw a wide box for the castle hall.

Tip Leave room on both sides for the towers and the seaweed.

  2. Step 2: Two towers

On each side draw a taller, thinner tower box touching the hall, standing on the same line.

  3. Step 3: Fan shell roof

On top of the hall draw a fan shell: 5 round bumps in a half circle, the middle one biggest.

Tip Start and stop a little way in from the hall's top corners.

  4. Step 4: Shell ribs

From the middle of the roof's flat bottom draw 4 lines fanning out to the dips between the bumps.

  5. Step 5: Spiral shell roofs

On each tower draw a tall pointed shell roof, wider than the tower. Draw 3 slanted lines across each.

Tip The slanted lines make the roof look like a twisty sea shell.

  6. Step 6: Doorway and windows

In the hall draw a big arched doorway down to the floor. Draw a round window in each tower.

  7. Step 7: The sea floor

Draw the sea floor line from edge to edge, level with the bottom of the castle.

  8. Step 8: Wavy seaweed

On the left draw 2 wavy seaweed blades growing up from the sea floor to a point, one taller.

  9. Step 9: A little coral

On the right draw a little coral growing from the floor, with 3 round-tipped arms.

Tip It looks like a little hand with 3 fat fingers.

  10. Step 10: Fish and bubbles

Above the roof draw a fish: oval body, triangle tail, dot eye. Add 3 bubbles on the right.

Tip Bubbles get smaller as they float up.

  11. Step 11: Pink walls

Colour the hall and the 2 towers pink, around the doorway and the windows.

  12. Step 12: Purple shells

Colour the 3 shell roofs purple. Colour the doorway and the 2 windows purple too.

  13. Step 13: Orange and green

Colour the coral and the fish orange. Colour the seaweed green.

  14. Step 14: Sand and sea

Colour the floor sandy and the sea blue around everything. Leave the 3 bubbles white.
