How to Draw a Swiss Roll
Draw a Swiss roll in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.
Step 1: A plate
Below the middle draw a long flat oval plate, nearly as wide as the page. Add a second oval inside.
Step 2: The roll
On the plate draw a big roll lying down, with a round left end and a straight right end.
Tip A Swiss roll is thin sponge spread with jam and rolled up.
Step 3: The cut end
Draw a tall oval over the straight right end for the cut face, touching the top and bottom.
Step 4: The swirl
Inside the oval draw a thick curly band like a snail shell, from the middle round to near the edge.
Step 5: A slice
In front of the cut end, on the plate, draw a flat oval lying down for a slice.
Step 6: The slice's swirl
Inside the slice draw a smaller thick curly band, from the middle round to near the edge.
Step 7: The table
Draw a line under the plate from far left to far right, just touching its bottom.
Step 8: Cream swirls
Go over your lines. Colour the two curly bands cream.
Step 9: Sky plate
Colour the plate sky blue, going around the roll and the slice.
Step 10: Tan sponge
Colour the roll, the cut end and the slice tan, going around the cream swirls.
