How to Draw a Nanaimo Bar

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a Nanaimo bar in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.

Print

  1. Step 1: A plate

Just below the middle draw a flat oval plate, nearly as wide as the page. Add a second oval inside.

  2. Step 2: The first bar

Left of middle draw a chunky block with soft corners. Add lines along its top and down its side.

Tip A Nanaimo bar is a no-bake Canadian treat with 3 layers.

  3. Step 3: A second bar

Right of it draw a smaller block the same way, tucked behind the first where they touch.

  4. Step 4: Layer lines

Across the front of the first bar draw 2 lines from edge to edge, and carry each round the side.

  5. Step 5: Second bar's layers

Do the same on the second bar: 2 lines across its front and side.

  6. Step 6: Crumbs

In the bottom layer of each bar draw 4 tiny dots, some high and some low, for crumbs.

  7. Step 7: The table

Draw a line under the plate from far left to far right, just touching its bottom.

  8. Step 8: Yellow custard

Go over your lines, then colour the middle layer of each bar yellow, front and side.

  9. Step 9: Sky plate

Colour the plate sky blue around the bars.

  10. Step 10: Wood crumb base

Colour the bottom layer of each bar wood brown, front and side.

  11. Step 11: Brown chocolate top

Colour the top layer of each bar chocolate brown, front, side and top. Your Nanaimo bar is done!
