How to Draw a Swirl
Draw a swirl in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the swirl.
Step 1: The swirl
Start low on the left. Draw a fat ribbon sweeping right, up and curling over to a round end.
Tip Like a wave curling over: a long tail and a round head.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the round head draw 2 egg eyes side by side. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.
Step 3: A smile
Under the eyes draw a small U smile, ends turning up.
Step 4: Rosy cheeks
Beside each end of the smile, leaving a small gap, draw a small sideways oval for a cheek.
Step 5: Sparkles on the left
Above the tail on the left draw 2 sparkle stars.
Step 6: Sparkles on the right
Draw 2 more sparkle stars on the right of the coil, one high and one low.
Step 7: Floor and shadow
Draw a floor line under the swirl, left to right. Add a flat oval shadow on it, behind the swirl.
Step 8: Yellow and pink
Colour the 4 sparkles yellow and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 9: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow grey, around the swirl.
Step 10: Teal swirl
Colour the ribbon teal around the face and cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Your happy swirl is done!
