How to Draw a Swing
Draw a swing in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top bar.
Step 1: The top bar
A quarter of the way down draw a long flat bar across, leaving a little space at each end.
Tip Make it long, but keep both ends inside the paper.
Step 2: Left legs
From under the bar's left end draw 2 thin bars slanting apart down to the ground, like an upside-down V.
Step 3: Right legs
Do the same at the right end: 2 thin bars slanting out and down, stopping at the ground.
Step 4: Cross bars
Partway down each pair of legs draw a short thin bar from leg to leg, making a letter A.
Step 5: Two ropes
From the middle of the bar draw 2 ropes straight down, a hand apart, stopping well above the ground.
Step 6: The seat
Join the rope bottoms with a flat seat plank, a finger thick.
Step 7: The ground
Under the 4 legs draw a ground line reaching past each side. Add 3 grass blades below each seat end.
Step 8: A puffy cloud
Above the bar on the left draw a puffy cloud: 4 round bumps on top and a flat wavy bottom.
Step 9: The sun
In the top right, above the bar, draw a small round sun with 8 short rays around it.
Step 10: White cloud, yellow sun
Colour the sun yellow and the cloud white.
Step 11: Wooden frame
Colour the top bar and the seat wood brown.
Step 12: Slate legs
Go over your lines, then colour the four legs and the cross bars slate grey. Your swing is done!
