How to Draw a Heartbeat Line
Draw a heartbeat line in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big heart.
Step 1: The big heart
Draw one big chunky heart in the middle of your paper: 2 fat humps on top, a soft point below.
Tip Leave room on both sides for the line.
Step 2: Line in
Start near the left edge of the paper. Draw a straight line across. Stop on the heart.
Tip Keep it level, halfway up the heart.
Step 3: Small bump
Start where the line stopped. Draw a small hill, then a short flat line. Stop before the middle.
Step 4: Tall jump
From the end of the line, zoom up high to a point. Then zoom down low to a point.
Tip Keep both points inside the heart.
Step 5: Back up
From the low point, draw a straight line back up to the level. Add a short flat bit.
Step 6: Second bump
Start where you stopped. Draw a slightly bigger hill, then a flat line. Stop on the heart.
Step 7: Line out
Start on the heart's right side. Draw a straight line out. Stop near the edge of the paper.
Tip It lines up with the line on the left.
Step 8: Two tiny hearts
Float a tiny heart above each end of the line, tipped outwards, with space all round it.
Step 9: Pink tiny hearts
Go over your lines. Colour both tiny hearts pink.
Step 10: Red heart
Colour the big heart red, above and below the line. Leave a little white shine on the right hump.
