14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw Swedish meatballs in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: The rim

Below the middle of your paper, left of centre, draw a wide flat oval. This is the dish's rim.

  2. Step 2: The dish

Start at the oval's left end. Draw a shallow U and stop at its right end. Add 2 tiny handles.

Tip Swedish meatballs come with mash, cream sauce and lingonberry jam.

  3. Step 3: The sauce

Inside the rim draw a second flat oval, a finger inside it, for the cream sauce.

  4. Step 4: Mashed potato

On the left, in the sauce, draw a soft mound of mash with 3 round bumps, the middle one tallest.

  5. Step 5: Meatballs

On the right, draw 3 meatballs in a row, each tucked behind the last, and 1 on top.

  6. Step 6: Lingonberry jam

Between the mash and the meatballs, at the back of the sauce, draw a wobbly dollop of jam.

  7. Step 7: Parsley

On the front of the mash's middle bump, draw 2 small pointed leaves joined at one end.

  8. Step 8: Steam

Above the meatballs, draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up.

  9. Step 9: A gravy boat

Right of the dish, draw a long pointy oval. From its point, draw a round bottom to the other end.

Tip The pointed end is the spout the gravy pours from.

  10. Step 10: The boat's handle

Start under the boat's rim on the right. Draw a C handle, stopping lower down. Add a smaller C inside.

  11. Step 11: The table

Draw a table line under the dish and the boat from left to right, just touching the bottoms.

  12. Step 12: Cream sauce, sand mash

Go over your lines, then colour the sauce in the dish and the boat cream, and the mash sand.

  13. Step 13: Sky dish, red jam

Colour the dish, its handles and the gravy boat sky blue, around the cream sauce. Colour the jam red.

  14. Step 14: Green parsley, brown meatballs

Colour the parsley green and the meatballs brown. Your Swedish meatballs are done!
