How to Draw a Surprised Face
Draw a surprised face in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, draw a big soft egg for the head, narrower at the chin.
Tip Make it big, nearly two thirds of the page tall.
Step 2: Two ears
Each ear starts and stops on the side of the head, like a C. Add a smaller C inside.
Step 3: Wide eyes
Below the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes. Put a small black dot in each.
Tip Small dots make the eyes look wide open.
Step 4: Raised eyebrows
High up the forehead, draw a short rainbow eyebrow above each eye. Surprised eyebrows jump up!
Step 5: Nose and O mouth
Between the eyes, draw a small U nose. Under it, draw a tall oval for the open O mouth.
Step 6: Curly hair
Start above the left ear. Draw 5 soft round tufts over the head, stopping above the right ear.
Tip Soft bumps like little clouds, not spikes.
Step 7: Hairline
Start where the hair meets the head on the left. Draw 2 soft bumps across, stopping on the right.
Step 8: Neck and shirt
Under the chin, draw 2 short neck lines. From each one, draw a shoulder sloping out. Add a U collar.
Step 9: Yellow shirt
Colour the shirt yellow.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, peach skin
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the face, ears and neck peach, around the cheeks and mouth. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Red mouth, brown hair
Colour the mouth red and the hair brown. Go over your lines and your surprised face is done.
