How to Draw a Crossing Guard

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a crossing guard in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 eyes, a nose and a smile. Add a C ear each side, starting and ending on the head.

  3. Step 3: Baseball cap

Draw a round cap on the head. Under it, draw a curved visor across the forehead, above the eyes.

  4. Step 4: Neck and shirt

Draw 2 short neck lines. From the left one, draw a shirt with round shoulders, back to the right one.

  5. Step 5: Safety vest

Over the shirt, draw a vest with a V neck, down to the hem. Add 2 band lines across.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From each shoulder, draw a long sleeve down to the wrist. The right has a cuff, the left bends in.

Tip Rub out the shirt lines inside the sleeves.

  7. Step 7: White gloves

Draw a mitten hanging from the right cuff. On the left sleeve's end, draw a fist with a thumb up.

  8. Step 8: Stop sign

Start on the left fist. Draw 2 pole lines up, stopping under a big 8-sided sign. Add a bar across.

  9. Step 9: Trousers and shoes

Start at the left hem. Draw 2 trouser legs, stopping at the right hem. Add shoes and a ground line.

  10. Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the cheeks pink and the face, ears and neck peach around them. Leave the eyes and gloves white.

  11. Step 11: Yellow vest, red sign

Colour the vest yellow, leaving the band white. Colour the stop sign red and leave the pole white.

  12. Step 12: Blue cap, navy clothes

Colour the cap blue, the clothes navy around the vest, and the shoes black. Go over your lines.
