How to Draw Sunflower Seeds
Draw sunflower seeds in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bottom of the heap.
Step 1: Bottom of the heap
Across the lower middle draw 4 plump teardrop seeds lying on their sides, pointing left and right.
Tip The point is where the seed was fixed to the flower.
Step 2: Second row
Draw 3 more seeds resting in the dips between them, leaning different ways.
Step 3: Top of the heap
Put 2 last seeds on top, one leaning left and one leaning right, to make a soft round pile.
Step 4: Stripes
On each bottom seed draw 2 thin curved stripes along the sides, from the point towards the fat end.
Step 5: More stripes
Give each of the other 5 seeds 2 thin curved stripes along the sides too.
Step 6: A cracked one
Right of the heap draw a cracked shell lying down: 2 striped halves joined at the left, opening right.
Step 7: The kernel
Join the right ends of the 2 halves with a small round bump. That is the kernel peeking out.
Step 8: The table
Draw a table line under the heap and the cracked seed, from well left to well right.
Step 9: Tan kernel
Go over your lines, then colour the kernel tan.
Step 10: Grey striped shells
Colour every seed and both shell halves dark grey. Leave the stripes white, and your seeds are done!
