How to Draw a Goliath Beetle
Draw a Goliath beetle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: small head.
Step 1: Small head
Near the top of your paper draw a small flat egg lying on its side for the head.
Tip On a goliath beetle the head is the smallest part.
Step 2: Forked horn
Start on top of the head. Draw a stalk up that splits into a Y. Stop back on the head.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small open smile: a flat line with a U under it. Add round cheeks.
Step 5: Wide striped shield
Under the head draw a wide rounded hat shape with a flat bottom. Draw 3 lines down each side.
Step 6: Big wing cases
From the bottom of the shield draw one huge rounded shape for the wings. Draw a line down its middle.
Step 7: Front legs
From each side of the shield draw a thick leg out to a knee, then thinner to a hooked foot.
Tip The hooks on the feet are for climbing trees.
Step 8: Middle legs
From the top of each wing case draw a leg out to a knee, then down to a hooked foot.
Step 9: Back legs
From low on each wing case draw a thick leg out and down to a hooked foot. 6 legs!
Step 10: Pink cheeks, red mouth
Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink and the open mouth red. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Striped shield
Colour the head cream around the cheeks and mouth. Colour the shield stripes cream and dark grey in turn.
Step 12: Brown wings, grey legs
Colour the wing cases brown, and the horn and all 6 legs dark grey. Your goliath beetle is done!

Your finished drawing
