How to Draw the Sun and Moon
Draw the sun and moon in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round sun.
Step 1: The round sun
A little left of the middle of your paper draw a big round circle, as big as a grapefruit.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the circle draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and white shines.
Step 3: A big smile
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from under the left eye across to the right eye.
Step 4: Moon hugs the sun
Above the sun, draw a big C round its right side to below it. Curve back up near the sun.
Tip The 2 curves meet in pointy horns, with a little gap of sky beside the sun.
Step 5: A happy moon face
On the moon's fat part draw a round eye with a black dot and shine, and a small smile.
Step 6: Five sun rays
On the left side of the sun draw 5 pointy triangle rays, spaced evenly, each starting on the circle.
Step 7: Sparkle lines
Between the rays, a little way out, draw 4 short straight sparkle lines pointing away from the sun.
Step 8: Three little stars
On the right of the moon draw 3 small stars of different sizes.
Step 9: Rosy cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour a pink cheek under each sun eye and one beside the moon's smile.
Step 10: Cream moon, yellow sun
Colour the moon cream, and the sun and 3 stars yellow, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Orange rays
Colour all 5 rays orange, and your sun and moon are done!
