How to Draw a Seashell
Draw a seashell in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: fan cup.
Step 1: Fan cup
Start up on the left. Draw a big curve down to a short flat bottom, then back up right.
Tip The shell is wider than it is tall.
Step 2: Bumpy top
Start at the left top corner. Draw 5 round bumps over the top, stopping at the right corner.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Level with the middle of the fan draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and shine in each.
Step 4: Open smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a flat line, then a U from end to end. Add a tongue and 2 cheeks.
Step 5: Hinge
Under the flat bottom, start at its left corner. Draw a rounded tab down, back up to the right corner.
Step 6: Fan ribs
From each dip between the bumps draw a short line down. Add 4 more fanning up from the hinge.
Tip Ribs stop short of the face: nothing crosses the eyes or mouth.
Step 7: Sand line
Start at the left edge of the paper and draw a line under the hinge to the right edge.
Step 8: Sandy floor
Go over your lines. Colour the sand under the line sandy yellow, right to the paper edges.
Step 9: Peach shell
Colour the shell and hinge peach, around the eyes, cheeks and mouth. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, red mouth
Colour the tongue and the 2 cheeks pink, then colour the mouth red around the tongue.
