How to Draw a Sugar Glider

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a sugar glider in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: teardrop face.

Print

  1. Step 1: Teardrop face

Near the top, in the middle, draw a round face like an upside-down teardrop, with a soft pointy chin.

Tip Leave lots of room below and on both sides.

  2. Step 2: Big oval ears

On each top corner of the head, draw a big oval ear leaning out, with a smaller oval inside.

  3. Step 3: Nose, smile, whiskers

Above the chin, draw a teardrop nose and w smile. From the nose, draw 2 whiskers, stopping on the cheek.

  4. Step 4: Huge eyes

In the middle of the face, draw 2 huge round eyes, close together. Add big black dots with shines.

Tip Sugar gliders are awake at night, so their eyes are enormous.

  5. Step 5: Egg body

Under the chin, draw an egg body hanging straight down, narrower than the head.

Tip The body is small: the stretched arms and legs do the gliding.

  6. Step 6: Arms spread wide

From each side of the body near the top, draw an arm that gets thinner, ending in a round paw.

  7. Step 7: Legs spread wide

From each side of the body near the bottom, draw a leg that gets thinner, ending in a round foot.

Tip The 4 paws make the corners of a kite.

  8. Step 8: Gliding skin

On each side, draw a curve from the paw to the foot, sagging in toward the body like a hammock.

  9. Step 9: Long thin tail

From under the body, draw a long tail that gets thinner as it swoops down and out to the right.

  10. Step 10: Stripe and tummy

Between the ears, draw a short dark stripe pointing down the forehead. Draw a tall oval tummy inside the body.

  11. Step 11: Pink ears, cream tummy

Colour the inside of the ears and the nose pink, and the tummy cream.

  12. Step 12: Grey fur, dark stripe

Leave the eyes white. Colour the glider grey around the pink, tummy and stripe, then the stripe dark grey.
