How to Draw a Succulent

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a succulent in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pot rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: Pot rim

Below the middle of your paper, draw a wide flat box as wide as your hand and as tall as a finger.

  2. Step 2: The pot

Start under the rim's left. Draw down leaning in, across, and back up to the rim's right.

  3. Step 3: Three middle leaves

On the middle of the rim, draw 3 fat pointed leaves standing up like a little crown.

  4. Step 4: A row behind

Behind those, draw a row of 5 bigger pointed leaves fanning out from the same spot on the rim.

  5. Step 5: Outside row

Behind those, on the left, draw 4 big pointed leaves fanning out, each tucked behind its neighbour.

  6. Step 6: Other side

Draw 4 more big leaves fanning out on the right the same way, so the plant is a full rosette.

  7. Step 7: The table

Draw a long straight line along the bottom of the pot for the table.

  8. Step 8: Green leaves

Colour all the leaves behind the 3 middle leaves leaf green, right to their points.

  9. Step 9: Darker middle

Colour the 3 middle leaves a darker green.

  10. Step 10: Ginger pot

Colour the pot and its rim ginger brown. Go over your lines and your succulent is done!
