How to Draw a Saguaro Cactus
Draw a saguaro cactus in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall body.
Step 1: The tall body
Start near the bottom. Draw a very tall line up, over a round top, and back down to the start.
Step 2: A low left arm
Start low on the left. Draw an arm bending up, stop on the body. Rub out the line inside.
Step 3: A high right arm
Start higher on the right. Draw a shorter arm bending up, stop on the body. Rub out the line inside.
Step 4: Rib lines
Draw 2 long lines down the body and one short one down the top. Add a line down each arm.
Step 5: Spines
Draw 6 short spine ticks poking out from the edges. Start each on the line, stop just outside.
Step 6: Desert ground
Draw a long flat ground line under the cactus. Start on it, draw 2 rock humps, stop on the ground.
Step 7: Dry grass
Start on the ground past the right rock. Flick 3 grass blades up from one spot. Stop in the air.
Step 8: The sun
Draw a round sun in the top right with 8 short rays around it.
Step 9: Green cactus
Colour the body and both arms green, right over the rib lines.
Step 10: Grey rocks, yellow sun
Colour the rocks grey and the sun yellow. Go over your lines and your saguaro is done!
