How to Draw a Sub Sandwich
Draw a sub sandwich in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.
Step 1: A plate
In the middle of your paper draw a big flat oval plate, almost as wide as the paper.
Step 2: The rim
Draw a second flat oval just inside the plate for the rim.
Step 3: Roll top
Inside the rim draw the top of a long roll: a low arch, hand-long, rounded at both ends.
Tip A sub roll is long and thin like a torpedo, only a thumb tall.
Step 4: Lettuce
Under the roll top draw one long frilly lettuce edge of soft bumps, from one end to the other.
Tip Soft bumps like little clouds, never sharp teeth.
Step 5: Tomato slices
Under the lettuce draw 3 round tomato slices peeking out, spaced along the roll.
Step 6: Cheese
Behind the tomatoes draw a long low cheese slice along the roll, its corners poking out at each end.
Tip Lift your pencil where the lettuce and tomatoes are in front.
Step 7: Roll bottom
Under the tomatoes draw the roll's bottom: a long low shape with rounded ends, shorter than the top.
Step 8: Scoring on the crust
On the top of the roll draw 3 short slanted lines, spaced out, for the scoring on the crust.
Step 9: The table
Draw a long table line under the plate, just touching its bottom.
Step 10: Cheese and plate
Go over your lines. Colour the cheese yellow, then the plate sky blue around the sandwich.
Step 11: Tan bread
Colour the top and bottom of the roll tan.
Step 12: Lettuce and tomatoes
Colour the lettuce green and the tomato slices red, and your sub sandwich is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a sub sandwich, drawn by you.
