How to Draw a Sturgeon
Draw a sturgeon in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long body, shovel nose.
Step 1: Long body, shovel nose
Start on the right. Draw a long back down to a long flat nose, then the tummy back.
Tip Keep the bottom of the nose flat, like a shovel. Leave the right end open.
Step 2: Eye and mouth
High in the head draw a big round eye. Under the nose draw a small smile going back.
Tip The mouth is under the nose: it hoovers food off the river bed.
Step 3: 3 whiskers
Under the nose, in front of the smile, draw 3 thin soft whiskers hanging down.
Step 4: Tail fin
Start at the end of the back. Draw a long point up, a dent, a short point to the tummy.
Tip Long top point, short bottom point.
Step 5: 3 fins
Start on the back near the tail. Draw a round fin, stopping on the back. Add 2 under the tummy.
Step 6: Gill and tummy line
Draw a tummy line from under the eye to the tail, then a C gill from the back to it.
Step 7: Bony plates
Under the back draw a row of 4 little diamonds. Add 4 more along the middle of the side.
Tip Sturgeons wear armour: rows of bony plates.
Step 8: Bubbles
Above the nose draw 3 bubbles floating up: small, bigger, biggest.
Step 9: Sand and seaweed
Draw a long wavy sand line from edge to edge. On each side draw 2 soft seaweed blades.
Step 10: Cream tummy, sandy floor
Go over your lines. Colour the tummy under the tummy line cream, and the floor sandy.
Step 11: Blue bubbles, green seaweed
Colour the bubbles light blue and the seaweed green.
Step 12: Grey sturgeon
Colour the fish grey, going around the cream tummy. Leave the eye white. Your sturgeon is done!
