How to Draw a One-Line Drawing
Draw a one-line drawing in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tail.
Step 1: The tail
Start on the right, below the middle, at the tail tip. Curve down in a backwards C along the bottom.
Tip The whole cat is one long line. Keep your pencil down and go slowly.
Step 2: Bottom and paws
Start where you stopped. Go left along the bottom, making a small bump, a big bump, a small bump. Stop.
Step 3: The left side
Start where you stopped. Go up the left side, bulging out, in at the neck, up to the cheek.
Step 4: The left ear
Start where you stopped. Go up to a pointy ear tip, down inside the ear, and stop in the middle.
Step 5: The right ear
Start where you stopped. Go up to a second pointy ear tip and down the outside. Stop at the cheek.
Step 6: The right side
Start where you stopped. Curve down the right side like the left. Stop at the tail. Lift your pencil!
Step 7: The ground
Draw a flat ground line under the paws, from left of the cat to under the tail.
Step 8: Two big eyes
Draw 2 big round eyes side by side on the head, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 9: Nose and whiskers
Under the eyes, draw a tiny triangle nose and a little w mouth. Add 2 short whiskers on each cheek.
Step 10: Pink nose
Colour the tiny triangle nose pink.
Step 11: Tan cat
Colour the cat tan inside your line, around the pink nose. Leave the eyes white. Your cat is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a one-line drawing, drawn by you.
