How to Draw a Street Map
Draw a street map in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the paper.
Step 1: The paper
In the middle of your paper draw a big box, a little wider than it is tall.
Step 2: The first block
Start on the top edge, left of the middle. Go down, turn the corner and stop at the left edge.
Tip Make the corner round, like the corner of a pavement.
Step 3: The park block
Leave a gap. Start on the bottom edge, go up, turn the corner and stop at the right edge.
Tip The gaps between the blocks are the streets.
Step 4: Two small blocks
From the left edge, draw 2 small blocks under the first one. Stop each at an edge. Leave gaps.
Step 5: A bendy block
Start on the top edge, right of the first block. Go down, along, then curve up to the right edge.
Step 6: The corner block
In the gap on the right, draw a block like a pie slice. Start and stop on the right edge.
Step 7: Street dashes
Along the middle of the long street across the paper, draw a row of short dashes.
Step 8: A pond
In the big bottom right block, draw a wobbly bean shape for a pond.
Step 9: A map pin
In the first block draw an upside-down teardrop with a small circle inside. This pin marks a place.
Step 10: Sand blocks
Go over your lines. Colour the 5 plain blocks sand, going around the pin.
Step 11: Grey streets
Colour all the streets grey.
Step 12: Blue and green
Colour the pond blue and the park around it green.
Step 13: Red pin
Colour the pin red, leaving its middle white. Your street map is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a street map, drawn by you.
