How to Draw a Straw Hat
Draw a straw hat in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the low crown.
Step 1: The low crown
Start on the left, a little above the middle. Draw a soft round dome and stop level with your start.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
On the crown draw 2 big egg eyes side by side, almost touching. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek at each end.
Tip Leave room under the smile for the ribbon.
Step 4: Huge floppy brim
Start at the crown's bottom left. Draw a huge floppy oval brim with round ends, back to the bottom right.
Tip Make the brim twice as wide as the crown.
Step 5: A thick brim
Start at the brim's left end. Draw a second smile curve just inside the bottom edge, to the right end.
Step 6: The ribbon band
Under the smile, start on the left of the crown. Draw a sagging curve across and stop on the right.
Step 7: A bow
Where the ribbon meets the right side draw a bow: a round knot, a loop each side, and 2 tails.
Step 8: Sparkles and a table
Draw a sparkle star off each side of the hat. Draw a table line under the brim, left to right.
Step 9: Yellow and pink
Go over your lines, then colour the sparkles yellow and the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Sand straw
Colour the crown and the brim sand, like straw, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Red ribbon
Colour the ribbon band, the knot, the loops and the tails red, and your straw hat is done!
