How to Draw Tape

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw tape in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the roll.

Print

  1. Step 1: The roll

A little left of the middle, draw 1 big round circle as big as your fist.

  2. Step 2: Hole and core

In the middle, draw a circle half as wide as the roll. Add a circle just round it for the core.

  3. Step 3: Two eyes

On the tape below the core, draw 2 egg eyes, each with a black dot and a white shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Draw a small U smile under the eyes. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each eye.

  5. Step 5: The peeling strip

From the roll's top, draw a strip out to the right. Zigzag the end, then come back to the roll.

Tip Let the strip leave the edge of the roll, like tape unrolling.

  6. Step 6: Shine

On the top left of the ring, draw 1 short curved shine line following the edge.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles

Draw 3 sparkle stars around the tape: 4 points like a plus sign with sides that dip in.

  8. Step 8: Table and shadow

Draw a thin flat oval shadow where the roll sits, and a table line out from each side.

  9. Step 9: Yellow sparkles, sand strip

Colour the sparkles yellow and the peeling strip sand.

  10. Step 10: Pink cheeks, tan roll

Colour the cheeks pink, then the roll tan around the face. Leave the eyes and the hole white.

  11. Step 11: Brown core, grey shadow

Colour the core brown and the shadow grey. Your roll of tape is done!
