How to Draw Stilts
Draw stilts in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, draw an egg for the head, as big as a plum, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip High on stilts, so his head is small and near the top.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 big round eyes, a U nose and a smile. Each C ear starts and stops on the head.
Step 3: Tufty hair
Start above the left ear. Draw round tufts over the top of the head, stopping above the right ear.
Tip Add a curved hairline across the forehead, from ear to ear.
Step 4: T-shirt and shorts
Draw 2 neck lines, then a T-shirt with short sleeves. Add shorts from one hem corner across to the other.
Step 5: Arms and hands
From each sleeve, draw an arm down to a wrist, ending in a mitten hand.
Step 6: Legs
From each shorts leg, draw 2 lines down to the ankle, closer together at the bottom, with soft knees.
Step 7: Sneakers
At the bottom of each leg, draw a sneaker with the toe pointing out: round heel, flat sole, round toe.
Step 8: Two stilts
From each mitten hand, draw a long thin pole straight down, past the leg to the bottom of the paper.
Tip The poles lean in a tiny bit as they go down, like real stilts.
Step 9: Footrests and ground
Under each sneaker, draw a small flat block on the pole. Add a long ground line at the pole bottoms.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, ears, neck, arms, hands and legs peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Ginger hair, red sneakers
Colour the hair ginger and the sneakers red.
Step 12: Green shirt, navy shorts
Colour the T-shirt green and the shorts navy.
Step 13: Wooden stilts
Colour the stilts and footrests wood brown. Go over your lines and your boy on stilts is done!
