How to Draw a Motorcycle

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a motorcycle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two big wheels.

Print

  1. Step 1: Two big wheels

Low down, draw 2 big matching circles, a gap apart. Add 2 smaller circles inside each, like a target.

Tip The gap between the wheels is a bit less than one wheel wide.

  2. Step 2: Two fenders

Over each wheel, draw a fat rainbow band a finger above the tyre, from the front round to the back.

  3. Step 3: Big headlight

Above the front fender, draw a big circle headlight. Add a smaller circle inside it and a tiny shine circle.

  4. Step 4: Fat fork

Draw a short flat line above the headlight. From each end, slant a fork line down to the front hub.

Tip The front line ducks behind the headlight, so leave a gap there.

  5. Step 5: Big gas tank

Start on the fork under the headlight. Draw a big tank hump back to the back fender, flat underneath.

Tip The tank is big, like a loaf of bread leaning on the fork.

  6. Step 6: The seat

From the tank's back edge, draw a long flat seat lying on the back fender, and stop on the tank.

  7. Step 7: Engine and frame

Hang a mushroom-cap engine under the tank. Add a bar to the back hub and a tube to the seat.

Tip The frame tube ties the engine to the seat, so nothing floats.

  8. Step 8: Exhaust pipe

Start low on the engine front. Curl a fat pipe under the engine, then straight back to the back tyre.

  9. Step 9: Handlebar and mirror

Draw a handlebar across the fork top with a grip line near the front. Add a stalk and round mirror.

  10. Step 10: Spokes, fins, road

Draw an X of 4 spokes in each wheel. Add 3 fin lines across the engine and a road underneath.

  11. Step 11: Red tank, black tyres

Colour the tank and both fenders red. Colour the tyres, seat and grip black, leaving the rims white.

  12. Step 12: Grey metal, yellow light

Colour all the metal parts grey: engine, fork, bars, pipe, handlebar, mirror and hubs. Colour the headlight glass yellow.
